Why We Started

The Augustus the Warrior Foundation was created in honor of our son, Augustus, “Gus”, who bravely fought stage IV neuroblastoma for three and a half years. Gus was only two and a half years old when he was diagnosed, and in that moment, our world changed forever. His fight was fierce, his spirit was unbreakable, and his light continues to shine in everything we do.

Through his journey, we witnessed not only the harsh realities of childhood cancer but also the incredible need for more support, research, and hope. We also learned how meaningful small acts of kindness (meals delivered, toys to brighten a hospital day, events that brought joy) could be in the darkest moments.

This foundation was born from Gus’s story and his strength. We carry forward his light by:

  • Funding research that moves us closer to cures and gentler treatments.

  • Supporting families in the thick of treatment with meals, toys, and care.

  • Creating moments of joy and events that remind kids, and their families, that they are seen, celebrated, and never alone.

We believe that no child should have to endure what Gus and so many other children face. This foundation is a way to honor our warrior and fight for a future where childhood cancer no longer steals childhoods.

This is Gus’s legacy. And it’s our promise to him: to keep his light shining, to spread love and hope, and to fight with all our hearts for kids and families everywhere.
